WELCOME

The Stillwater Starz is a developmental summer swim team and a member of the Naperville Swim Conference (NSC). A volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our mission is to develop confident, capable young swimmers and foster a love of competitive swimming in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.

Our swimmers range from 4-18 years of age, and most are residents of the Stillwater subdivision and other nearby communities in southwest Naperville, Plainfield, and Oswego. For our youngest swimmers, their time on the Starz is often their first experience with competitive swimming. It’s also where many of our returning swimmers, some of whom now swim year-round in club and school programs, got their start. Good Afternoon, Starz Families!

Welcome to another swim meet weekend! Tomorrow morning, our meet is hosted by the Naperville Tennis Club Orcas! More on that later in the email, but first, a few announcements.

HOBSON WEST WRAP-UP

Hosting a meet isn’t easy. While we experienced some computer delays and scoring snafus at last night’s meet, it all worked out in the end. I always enjoy swimming Hobson West. Our teams have historically matched up well, and it’s really great to see so many close, competitive heats. Once their computers team had an opportunity to correct some of the scoring irregularities noted last night, Stillwater came away with the meet win. Even better, our swimmers earned piles of new personal bests and City Cuts. More on those coming soon!

MEET TIPS from the COACHING STAFF

Positive Check-In is running well! Remember that arriving early (at or before positive check-in opens) usually results in a smoother experience for everyone.
Please try to limit day-of scratches to truly unforeseen emergencies and illnesses. Often, your swimmers’ teammates are relying on them to participate in relays. An unexpected scratch sometimes means that those relays won’t run at all. If you DO, find yourself with a sick swimmer or another last-minute emergency, though, please don’t forget to let Head Coach Mary know. Nothing makes the pre-meet minutes more stressful than surprises!

BRING EXTRA WATER, COOLERS, FANS, HATS, TENTS/SUN SHADES, AND WHATEVER OTHER MEANS YOU HAVE OF KEEPING YOURSELF AND YOUR SWIMMERS COOL. NOTE THAT OUR TEAM AREA IS ON ASPHALT; PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR SWIMMERS HAVE SHOES AND DISCOURAGE THEM FROM RUNNING OR ROUGH PLAY IN THE TEAM AREA.

Positive Check-In. Opens:

7:30 a.m. (arrive early—street parking only for visitors)

Positive Check-In Closes/Warmups Begin:

7:45 a.m. (late arrivals will be scratched)

Worker Check-In w/ Asheley:

7:30-7:45 a.m., following swimmer check-in (look for the Stillwater flag)

Meet Start:

8:30 a.m.
