WELCOME

The Stillwater Starz is a developmental summer swim team and a member of the Naperville Swim Conference (NSC). A volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our mission is to develop confident, capable young swimmers and foster a love of competitive swimming in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.

Our swimmers range from 4-18 years of age, and most are residents of the Stillwater subdivision and other nearby communities in southwest Naperville, Plainfield, and Oswego. For our youngest swimmers, their time on the Starz is often their first experience with competitive swimming. It’s also where many of our returning swimmers, some of whom now swim year-round in club and school programs, got their start. Join us this summer, and find out what fun you can have when we shoot for the Starz together!

Away at White Eagle Tomorrow: Meet Info and Other Team News

Lea Fortkamp

Good Afternoon, Starz Families!

Welcome to another swim meet weekend! TOMORROW, we head to White Eagle for our first AWAY meet of the season. More on that in a minute, but first, a few announcements.

TEE SHIRT PICKUP

Those who attended Wednesday’s Picture Day have already received their 2025 (red) team tee shirts. For those who didn’t make it to Picture Day, we have a few more pickup options:

  • Tomorrow, at the White Eagle meet, from me (Lea)
  • Monday morning, at practices
  • Monday evening, between practice sessions

If you’re unable to pick up at any of these times, please email me, and we can make different arrangements next week.

SWIMMER FOLDERS

Each age group has a dedicated file box of swimmer folders that we use to distribute swimmer awards (ribbons). In the few days following each swim meet, ribbons for that meet will be distributed for all swimmers in 6U through 11/12 age groups. Ribbons are awarded by heat, not by event.

Please help your swimmers by checking their folders regularly and removing ribbons as they’re awarded. Please DISCOURAGE swimmers from removing their folders from the file boxes. Once our alphabetical system is disrupted, swimmers’ ribbons become much more difficult to find.

MEET TIPS from the COACHING STAFF

  • The Positive Check-In process/area is DIFFERENT FROM the area where families snap photos of their swimmers’ events to record on their hands with Sharpies. At the last meet, several families OVERLOOKED positive check-in (where swimmers’ highlight their names to indicate that they are present at the meet) and instead highlighted or circled their swimmers’ names on the list meant for swimmers to record their events. These are two different areas with two different purposes. At home meets, positive check-in is by the tennis courts. Please be sure to highlight your swimmers’ names THERE, or they may be scratched from the meet.

  • When recording your swimmers’ events, please check the WHOLE SHEET, including columns on the left AND RIGHT. At our last meet, several families missed events on the right-hand side of the sheet (later events) and mistakenly left before all their swimmers’ events were complete. This is especially unfortunate when a swimmer’s early meet departure impacts a relay, preventing other swimmers from completing that event. If you’re not sure whether you’ve corectly noted all of your swimmer’s events, please ask an experienced team parent to help you. Remember, relays will not appear in Meet Mobile.
