WELCOME

The Stillwater Starz is a developmental summer swim team and a member of the Naperville Swim Conference (NSC). A volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our mission is to develop confident, capable young swimmers and foster a love of competitive swimming in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.

Our swimmers range from 4-18 years of age, and most are residents of the Stillwater subdivision and other nearby communities in southwest Naperville, Plainfield, and Oswego. For our youngest swimmers, their time on the Starz is often their first experience with competitive swimming. It’s also where many of our returning swimmers, some of whom now swim year-round in club and school programs, got their start. Join us this summer, and find out what fun you can have when we shoot for the Starz together!

**IMPORTANT UPDATE/CHANGES : Meet the Coaches & Info Night

Lea Fortkamp

Hello Starz Families!

If you’ve been watching the weather, you’ve likely noticed that our prospects for hosting any kind of outdoor event tomorrow are very poor. Unfortunately, a soggy field will prevent the outdoor coach/swimmer games we’d planned during the parent meeting. A soggy patio will make it impossible to seat all our guests comfortably for dinner.

Please carefully read the information below for tomorrow’s UPDATED Meet the Coaches/Parent Info Night plans, which have changed in response to tomorrow’s challenging weather forecast.

NEW to the Starz this season?

Please join us from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for an IN-PERSON Meet the Coaches/Parent Info Night session. This session will cover all the information originally planned but no food will be served. While the session will now primarily be geared toward parents, we understand that childcare may be a consideration for some of our families. Children are still welcome to accompany their parents and meet their coaches, but please consider bringing coloring books, playing cards, or other quiet activities to help them to pass the time.

During this session, new team parents will have an opportunity to have their questions answered by board members and our head coach, and they’ll get a firsthand tutorial on the jobs signup process, which will open online at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow night. No prior RSVP is required to attend!

RETURNING to the Starz this season, or new, but UNABLE to attend in person?

Please join us for a ZOOM session at 7:00 p.m. This online session will cover ALL the same information as the in-person session, and we’ll field ALL of your questions before the session concludes. Through screen sharing, we’ll guide you through the season and the jobs signup process. To join the 7:00 p.m. Zoom session, please click:

WHAT ABOUT the pizza and games?

We plan to reschedule tomorrow’s pizza and games (for swimmers and coaches) to coincide with one of our pre-season practices. As soon as we have more details, we will share them. If you paid for additional, non-swimmer family members to share in tomorrow’s now-canceled meal, a credit will be issued to your Starz account, and refunds will be handled at the close of the season as needed.

Thanks for your patience as we try our best to roll with Mother Nature’s punches. If you haven’t yet added and verified a cell phone number for SMS messaging/push notifications to your Starz account, now would be an excellent time to do so. Check my last all-team email for instructions, or scroll down to the “News” section on our website’s front page to find it.

Thank you again, and please let me know if you have questions. I’ll look forward to seeing many of you in person AND online tomorrow!

Best,

Lea Fortkamp,

Stillwater Starz Parent Board
