WELCOME

The Stillwater Starz is a developmental summer swim team and a member of the Naperville Swim Conference (NSC). A volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our mission is to develop confident, capable young swimmers and foster a love of competitive swimming in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.

Our swimmers range from 4-18 years of age, and most are residents of the Stillwater subdivision and other nearby communities in southwest Naperville, Plainfield, and Oswego. For our youngest swimmers, their time on the Starz is often their first experience with competitive swimming. It’s also where many of our returning swimmers, some of whom now swim year-round in club and school programs, got their start. Tonight's email includes some important action items and a handful of deadlines you'll want to keep an eye on.

 

WEDNESDAY: TEAM STORE CLOSING

Our online team store closes at 11:59 p.m. this Wednesday, May 14. If you still haven’t ordered suits, caps, or spirit wear, less than 48 hours remain! Orders place by Thursday will be delivered to the clubhouse and distributed at early season practices. Shop the team store HERE.

 

FRIDAY: MEET THE COACHES NIGHT REGISTRATION CLOSING

Registration closes for Meet the Coaches Night and Family Orientation THIS FRIDAY. This event is for swimmers AND their parents. You'll get to know the coaches, enjoy a pizza dinner, discuss the season, and learn all about the jobs signup process. 

Jobs signup will open following this event, so if you're new to the team or unclear on the jobs signup process or expectations, this is an event you won't want to miss! Register to attend this event HERE. Swimmer meals are included in the cost of registration; please be sure to add ALL registered swimmers who will be eating to your registration cart before checking out. If adults or siblings would like to eat, too, additional meals can be purchased when you register. To avoid registration challenges, please register for this event on a computer, via our website (rather than the OnDeck/SportsEngine app).

 

RETURNING MEMBERS: UPDATE YOUR SWIMMERS' TEE SHIRT SIZES

All swimmers receive a tee shirt with their registration. Sometimes, though, returning families forget to update their swimmer's size as they grow from season to season. Please take a moment to log into your swimmer's account and update his or her tee shirt sizes this week, making sure to note the difference between youth and adult sizes. Tee shirts are 100% cotton, unisex cut. Unfortuantely, once our team tee shirt order has been placed, we won't be able to accommodate requests for size changes.

 

RECEIVE SMS/TEXT MESSAGES

From time to time, the Starz will communicate time-sensitive information (usually regarding dangerous weather) via text/SMS messaging as well as email. To ensure that you receive these messages, please log into your Starz account, add your SMS/mobile number and carrier, and follow the verification instructions you receive once this information is saved. Only users with verified SMS numbers on file will receive text message updates. See the example below; SMS number nad carrier should be added in the highlighted area then verified by the user after this information has been saved.

 

OFFICIALS: PLEASE REPLY TO ASHELEY

Last week, Starz Jobs Coordinator Asheley Kram reached out to all officials with a survey meant to gather their availability for the coming season, Officials' meet assignments are pre-scheduled based on their availability, so if you haven't responded to Asheley's email yet, please do so ASAP. If you have questions, please reach out to Asheley via email HERE.

 

JOBS: WATCH YOUR EMAIL

Tomorrow, all registered accounts will receive an email from Asheley with some preliminary information on our team's parent work requirement and the various meet jobs from which parents can choose. Please read this email CAREFULLY. Jobs signup opens following MEET THE COACHES on May 20 and remains open throughout the following week. Those who select their jobs as soon as signup opens will have the greatest choice. If your availability is limited, we strongly encourage you to determine which meets and jobs you'd prefer BEFORE signup opens and sign up as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we cannot facilitate job switches once signup has opened.

Failing to sign up for jobs (or failing to complete them) will result in unnecessary fees for your family, so please make timely signup a priority. If you have questions about jobs, please be sure to attend MEET THE COACHES; experienced team parents will be there to lend a hand!
