New Swim Officials Needed!
Good Afternoon, Starz Families,
Were you a swimmer in your youth? Do you have a returning and/or year-round swimmer? Maybe you’re just interested in learning more about the sport. Whatever the case, please consider completing your family’s job requirement as a Swim Official this season. While we’re fortunate to have several seasoned officials in our parent ranks, it’s important to identify and train new parent officials, too.
Without a strong corps of new and experienced officials each year, we won’t have the personnel necessary to satisfy conference requirements and ensure fairness and accuracy in scoring. Accordingly…
Without an adequate supply of officials, there can be no home meets.
Why should you consider becoming an official?
· Officials have a front row seat to all the action! If it’s hot out, the occasional splash will help you stay cool.
· You’ll learn proper stroke and turn technique and can help your own swimmers and their teammates improve through your feedback.
· Swim meets will fly by because you’ll be engaged in almost every heat.
· Training is quick, free, straightforward, and offered locally at Cress Creek Country Club.
· You’ll shadow one of our returning officials at your first meet to get comfortable before you’re asked to officiate solo.
2025 NSC Officials Training Sessions (CLICK HERE to sign up):
Wednesday, May 7, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Wednesday, May 14, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 17, 8:00-10:00 a.m.
Again, past swim experience is NOT required to serve as an official. Officials' jobs are pre-assigned before general job signup opens and can be planned around your availability.
As a reminder, without the necessary volunteers, our home meets this season cannot go on. Please reach out to me via email ([email protected]) if you’re interested in completing your family’s job requirement as an official this season, and we'll identify the training date that works for you!
Thanks for your help and support!
